This is the simplest method of cleaning your windows. You only need five basic tools: a bucket of water, a sponge, a detergent, a squeegee, and a chamois/dry cloth.

Fill your bucket with warm water and add a small amount of a detergent (such as Windex)

Now soak your sponge and clean your window frames starting from the top
Soak your sponge in the bucket of soap water and start cleaning your windows either by:
1. Starting on the upper-left side of the windows and make an S-shape downwards until you reach the bottom corner of the window
2. Starting on the upper-left corner and drag the sponge straight down

Use your squeegee and start cleaning your windows starting from the top going straight down. Leave about an inch of room at the top so you can start each stroke from a dry area.
1. Use your chamois/cloth to dry any excess water after each stroke. If not, you will have visible white lines on your windows

Keeping your windows clean is one of the easiest ways to keep your house looking beautiful. It doesn’t take longer than 15 minutes and the satisfaction you get from crystal clear windows can make the difference between a good day and a bad day.

Create a Chalkboard

Need a crafty way to remind yourself to pick up the dog from the groomers or make it to a meeting on time? Take those old windows, coat the glass in a basic chalkboard spray paint that you can find in the paint aisle at Lowes or Home Depot, and you have your very own custom chalkboard.

Design a Mosaic Artwork

Cover an old window with colored glass pebbles or glass remains (sea glass or wine bottle glass work great) to create a DIY mosaic artwork. Create a design or a random display of colors and hang it either inside or outside. Make sure to hang it in an area that receives ample sunlight to show off those beautiful colors.

Custom Picture Frame

Fill those empty widows with pictures of your family, friends or business retreat, and refurbish the outer windowpane into an antique, elegant picture frame. You can diversify your window-picture frames by doing a series of little pictures or by using a large print to cover the entire window.

Organize Anything Lightweight

String chicken wire, twine, or a cord form one end of your window frame to the other and hang pictures, bows, necklaces or reminders. You can put a decorative fabric up behind your window frame to add a pop of color. This a great use of an antique frame if the glass in the window is too fragile or broken for upcycling.

Just out of curiosity, would you prefer a bed and breakfast get away, a week at the beach, or a good old-fashioned road trip? There’s just something about a road trip that’s intriguing and exciting. Cranking up the music, noshing on Cheetos and M&Ms and not looking back. Just miles and miles of wide-open road ahead.

So, we’ve decided to take a road trip up Interstate 35. And while we’re at it, we’re going to make a few pit stops and check out some of the famous windows along the way. Hop on in and come along for the ride. We’re hitting the road.

Austin, TX - Texas State Capitol Building
Did you know that the Texas State Capitol Building has 924 windows? That’s a whole lot of windows! The Texas Capitol is spectacular on its own, but it sits amidst 22 acres of magnificently maintained lawn and historical monuments.

Dallas, TX - Dallas County Admin Building
Originally constructed in 1901 and known as the Texas School Book Depository, this building’s claim to fame came in November 1963 when Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy out of a sixth floor window. The building has since been acquired by Dallas County. The Sixth Floor Museum opened in 1989 as a historical exhibit on President Kennedy.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Devon Energy Center
This 50 story, 3-sided glass tower stands at 844 feet and holds the title as the tallest building in Oklahoma. On most Thursdays and Saturdays, you can enjoy a 90-minute tour that includes an elevator ride to the top of the tower.

Kansas City, Missouri - Union Station

Most people are aware of global warming and concerned with constant weather changes. With global warming comes higher UV Rays, and the need for lots of sunscreen. Many of us take safety precautions outside to prevent sun damage, but did you realize it is also important to keep UV Rays outside of your home?

Harmful Rays

There are two types of radiation that can harm the skin and in some cases can lead to possible skin damage and even cancer; UVA Rays and UVB Rays.

According to studies, at least 50% of the sun’s rays penetrate through your windows and blinds. There are now products available that keep your skin protected when indoors, such as window films. These films block most of the UV rays from entering your home. Studies say that these films can block up to 99.9% of UV radiation.

If you are unaware of the damage that sunrays can do to your skin, take a look at furniture or an object in your house that has been left by the window for a while. Usually the color of the object will fade, and your skin is no exception.

Keeping The Sun Out

Window films are not just there to block out the sun’s UV Rays and prevent damage to your furniture, but it also helps your home’s energy costs.
