How do you feel about your front door? You know, the door with the large window right in the middle. Sure it’s pretty and ornate, but there just really isn’t a whole lot of privacy with that big open space. Think about your Saturday movie night snuggled up on the couch or better yet, your Monday morning Zumba routine -- not exactly what you want a neighbor or passer-by to see.

Now, there are all sorts of DIY things you can do to help out with the privacy. As a matter of fact, one quick search in Pinterest will leave you with hours upon hours of ideas to sort through and investigate. But if you want something nice and permanent with curb appeal galore, maybe a custom-made window is just what you’re looking for.

Glass Doctor: What’s your story with Glass Doctor?

Doug Dotson: I joined the Glass Doctor team in 2003 when Riverside/Dwyer Group purchased Harmon Auto Glass. I then came on board with Glass Doctor corporate as a franchisee consultant and then eventually as a Vice President. I left the corporate office in 2013 to purchase and operate Glass Doctor - Heart of Texas. Glass Doctor President Mark Liston adds, “Doug is such an asset to Glass Doctor. Last year, Doug and his wife Karen were recognized as New Franchisee of the Year. His input is tremendously valuable to me!”

Glass Doctor: Why is custom glass service so important to consumers?

Doug Dotson: We all work hard and play hard. And home is a personal escape from it all – a haven for rest and relaxation. At Glass Doctor Heart of Texas, we love the opportunity to help customers enhance the beauty and functionality of their home, their haven.

Glass Doctor: Tell us about a custom glass service call Glass Doctor Heart of Texas provided.

Doug Dotson: I recently had a call from a customer who was concerned with the lack of privacy with her front door window. When the customer called, she actually had a sheet hanging over the door to cover the window. Tired of the sheet look, she asked what her options were. I suggested replacing the entire window altogether with tempered etched glue-chip with a low-e exterior lite glass. Not only was the customer happy with her new window, but she was also thrilled to put the sheet away for good. The new window provided the privacy she desperately wanted and it also gave her an added bonus of an updated look that enhanced her curb appeal.
