There’s just something about fresh herbs that’s almost indescribable. Of course, dried herbs are fine in a pinch, but nothing beats fresh. Simply chopping fresh herbs introduces the most unbelievable fragrance that can overtake an entire kitchen. And the flavor… When you cook with fresh herbs, every single bite has a burst of flavor so incredible it leaves you speechless.

Now just imagine the fabulous culinary delights you could create if you had access to fresh herbs 24/7. With your very own window garden you can have fresh herbs whenever your taste buds desire.

So, as you embark on your spring-cleaning rituals, take a look at your pantry. Maybe it’s time to clean out the dried herbs and start your own window garden. Believe it or not, it’s actually pretty easy to do.

Your Glass Doctor^® specialist has made a list of 4 things you’ll need to create your very own spring window garden.

You’ll need…
• a sunny windowsill. A window facing south or southwest is ideal. Make sure the window gets about 6 hours of good sunlight a day for best results.

• your favorite herbs. We’ve come up with a group that we call the fantastic four because these herbs are super fragrant and they work well with an indoor garden setup.

Basil - Bruschetta with Tomatoes & Basil
Dill – Cucumber Feta Cheese Bites
Rosemary – Easy Roasted Mushrooms with Rosemary & Garlic
Thyme – Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce

• a container 6-12 inches deep with drainage holes. Make sure to put a saucer under the container to catch the drainage so you don’t ruin the windowsill.

• soilless potting mix. Avoid garden soil because it can be too heavy to drain and could also have soil diseases.

You’ll want to follow the specific seeding and planting directions for each herb, but this will certainly get you started in the right direction. You’ll have fabulous fresh herbs and pretty window decorations in no time.
