Window Repair & Replacement

Whether damaged glass occurs to your windshield or to a window or glass door in your home, broken glass seems to be a part of everyone’s life at one time or another. In Douglas County, Glass Doctor® of Omaha has earned the reputation for being able to expertly handle all types of glass repair and replacement.

Window Repair

We can sometimes reestablish the integrity of an older single-pane window in a way similar to our unique one-hour glass repair process for car windshields. In most cases, however, window repairs will require replacement of the glass portion, while retaining the original frame. If the damaged window is a single pane unit, our window specialist will explain the advantages of replacing this dated window with a modern, insulated glass unit (IGU), available in double- and triple-pane models.

24/7 Emergency Repair Services

While our residential window repair services are typically scheduled for a time most convenient to you, in the case of an emergency we’ll send out a repair crew immediately to handle the problem. We consider your family’s safety and security of primary concern and will act quickly to mitigate the situation to get your home back to normal. First, our uniformed, licensed glass specialists will clean up the debris to make the area where the damage occurred safe again. If possible, repairs will be done immediately, as we carry most of the necessary materials in our emergency vehicle.

If a glass pane or insulated glass unit isn't readily on hand we'll obtain it as soon as we can and, when it's available, will schedule an appointment for completion at your convenience. In the meantime, the breach left in your home's exterior will be sealed and boarded up in an effort to keep out the weather, insects and critters and, most importantly, to secure the home from uninvited, would-be intruders.

Double Pane Window Repair

If your home has insulated windows and one of these gets broken, you'll have to replace the entire glass unit, although the original frame can often still be used. This makes the repair of double- and triple-pane windows much more affordable than you may have thought.

The same is true of insulated windows where the seal has broken, allowing outside air to enter the space between the glass panes. Not only do these windows look terrible, with a milky white appearance or visible drops of condensation, but they’ve also lost most of their insulating capabilities. The glass units within these windows must be replaced to fix the problem.

Specialty Glass Repair

In addition to glass repair and replacement of your home's conventional windows, we're also able to work with many types of specialty glass. This includes patio and French doors, garage doors and entry doors incorporating glass panels. Additionally, we repair or fabricate custom-cut mirrors, shelving, glass tabletops and glass cabinets.

Window Replacement

Upgrading older, dated windows to the newer, modern equivalent can save you energy dollars; make your home more environmentally friendly and also more comfortable. Installing high-efficiency insulated windows helps keep out the summer heat and the winter cold, allowing your heating and air conditioning systems to work less, saving energy dollars.

Additional Glass Services

Added extras such as Low-E glass can also be employed for even more efficiency and protection from the sun's UV rays. We also offer window tinting and options like safety and shatter-resistant glass. Additionally, we can fix difficult-to-open windows and windows with problem locks, latches or balances.

Our trademarked glass protectant, Clear Choice™, reduces scratching and staining on glass and other surfaces in your home. It also guards against hard water/mineral deposits and airborne pollutants.
